Leicester City kicked off attacking the Filbert Street end.
Goal! City are stunned by a 35-yard strike by Red Star Belgrade striker Acimovic. His powerful strike came after just 30 seconds of City's UEFA Cup tie.
Tim Flowers in the City goal appeared to be unsighted as smoke from flares swirled across the Filbert Street pitch.
Matt Elliott makes sure Red Star keeper Kocic is alert from City's first corner after four minutes. His near post flick-on forces a low save from Kocic.
Acimovic is again on the end of a penetrating move after eight minutes. His strong first time shot from 25-yards flies just wide of Flowers' right hand post.
Darren Eadie is booked after 13 minutes for a foul on Acimovic.
Good play by Guppy down the left flank sees him outstrip the Red Star defender and fire in an excellent cross which is just too high for Eadie.
Lalatovic is booked for a foul on Savage after 21 minutes. From the resulting free kick Elliott rises highest and his header brings a fine save from Kocic low down in front of his left hand post.
Akinbiyi gets his head to Lennon's free kick after 25 minutes and the ball falls loose in Red Star's six-yard box. Kocic reacts the quickest and gathers at the feet of Eadie.
A dazzling run by Pjanovic almost brings a second goal for Red Star. He evades Rowett and Elliott before playing in Drulic whose chip beats Flowers but is just too high.
After 40 minutes it is Leicester who are pressing but Red Star look dangerous on the counter attack.
GOAL!!! Taggart rises at the far post to meet Lennon's cross after 42 minutes for the equaliser. City's strength in the air is posing problems for Red Star.
Boskovic forces a good save low down from Flowers with his powerful strike from 30 yards.
It's honours even at half-time with City's hard running and endeavour getting them back in the tie after the stunning opening.
Red Star look dangerous on the break but are clearly troubled by City's crosses and are not comfortable in the air against the likes of Taggart and Elliott.

Stan Collymore is on for City at the start of the second-half, he replaces Andrew Impey.
Good play by Izzet after 48 minutes sets up Eadie for a shot from the edge of the box which bring a low save from Red Star keeper Kocic.
City have started the second-half much the brighter of the two teams and Collymore is already in the thick of the action.
Glogovac is booked for a foul on Eadie after 52 minutes.
Rowett's cross is met by Akinbiyi who turns in the box but sees his shot blocked by a Red Star defender after 54 minutes.
Guppy squares the ball to Izzet 25 yards out. His well struck shot beats Red Star keeper Kocic but is just over.
Collymore is working well with Akinbiyi. His pin-point pass almost puts the Nigerian in behind the Red Star defence after 62 minutes.
City substitution: Cresswell on for Akinbiyi.
Red Star Substitution: Drulic replaced by Stevanovic.
Glogovac sent off - straight red card for challenge on Darren Eadie
City should have taken the lead in on the 76 minute after great work by Muzzy Izzet. The Turkish international cut inside from the right and found Stan Collymore with an inch perfect cross. The Foxes striker looked certain to score but scuffed his shot into the arms of Kocic from 6 yards.
Red Star substitution: Bajcetic replaces Lalatovic.
Fracas break out inside Red Star penalty area. Referee eventually separates players and books both Collymore and Kocic.
Deep cross by Guppy finds Elliott but his header from close range drifts over the bar.
Corner swung in by Steve Guppy headed wide by Gerry Taggart from 6 yards.
